Data Retention Policy
- Introduction
Elevate Education Pty Ltd and its related bodies corporate (“Elevate”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) must comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) and any other applicable privacy laws.
As part of the day-to-day running of our business, we collect and process personal data from a variety of sources. This personal information is collated in several different formats including letters, emails, legal documents, employment records, operations records, images and statements. The personal data is stored both as a hard copy and in electronic form.
This Policy sets out our approach to managing, retaining and destroying records and data (including personal information) we hold, to ensure compliance with the APPs and data retention laws.
- Purpose
The purpose of this Policy is to ensure that necessary records and documents of are adequately protected and maintained and to ensure that records that are no longer needed by Elevate or are of no value are discarded at the proper time. This Policy is also for the purpose of aiding employees, consultants and contractors of Elevate in understanding their obligations in retaining electronic documents - including e-mail, web files, text files, sound and movie files, PDF documents, and all Microsoft Office or other formatted files.
- Application of Policy
This Policy applies to all employees, consultants and contractors of Elevate who have access to our records and data or who are involved in the process of collecting, storing or securing our records and data on our behalf.
This Policy applies to all electronic records generated in the course of Elevate’s operation, including both original documents and reproductions.
- Administration
Attached as Appendix A is a Record and Data Retention Schedule that is approved as the initial maintenance, retention and disposal schedule for physical records and the retention and disposal of electronic documents of Elevate.

Elevate may make modifications to the Record and Data Retention Schedule from time to time to ensure that it is in compliance with relevant legislation and includes the appropriate document and record categories for Elevate.
